CCCO open rehearsal: See us in action!

Have you ever wondered what an orchestra rehearsal is like? Tonight's the chance to see us in action as we prepare for the November 21st and 22nd concerts! Notes about the CCCO November Concert: Music That Merges with Words What to expect: Rehearsals aren't like concerts in that we may stop and start a piece or work on specific sections of a piece depending on what comments the conductors has for the orchestra. His comments can relate to anything from phrasing, dynamics (how loud and soft particular sections or the group as a whole should play in certain areas), to ensemble balance. For this particular rehearsal, the orchestra schedule is as follows (subject to change based on needs): 7:30-8:00 Gordon Jacob: Old Wine in New Bottles Tidbit: This piece is written strictly for woodwinds and brass only (no strings). 8:00-8:30 Claude Debussy: Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune 8:30-9:00 Vaughan Williams: Serenade to Music Note: We will only rehearse the Orchestral part, but Cantare Con Vivo will join us for the concert. Normally, when orchestras have a soloist, the soloists come for latter rehearsals right before the concert. 9:00-9:10 Break 9:10-9:25 Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on Greensleeves 9:25-9:45 Percy Grainger: Irish Tune from County Derry ("Danny Boy") Tidbit: Strings only Feel free to drop in and leave at your convenience.
