Description
The 2009 festival will take place at St Peter's House, the home of Kala Sangam in the centre of Bradford (just below the Cathedral) from Friday 6th November to Sunday 8th November 2009.
The musical line-up includes:
Friday from 7.30 pm: Chumbawamba, Bleeding Hearts, Tracey Curtis, and Gary Kaye.
Saturday from 3.30 pm: Turning Silence Into Song with Leon Rosselson, Frankie Armstrong, Roy Bailey, Martin Carthy, Sandra Kerr and Janet Russell.
Saturday at 1 pm & 7.30 pm(in Bradford Cathedral) Political And Community Choirs & Singing Groups From Across The Country.
Saturday from 8 pm: Alun Parry Band, The General Will's repertoire of past& present political song and satire.
Sunday from 1 pm(at Bradford Cenotaph): Songs For Peace, Concert Finale From 2.30 pm, with Claire Mooney, Hall Brothers, Sex Patels, and Imani Hekima.
This year the festival will have more space than when it was last held in 2007 and will offer more for festival goers to do and to listen to - including a concert to celebrate Leon Rosselson's birthday on the Saturday.
Weekend tickets are on sale priced at £40 if purchased before 31st October, full price £45. There are also individual event tickets available. To buy tickets, click here.
There are also events during the week before the festival weekend. Such as storytelling, poetry, book fair, The Topic Folk Club, based at the Bradford Irish Club, are hosting a special Political Song Competition final on Thursday 5th November. The event will also screen a short run of films at the 1-in-12 Club on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th November.
